I am currently blogging this (via e-mail) from a remote location…literally. I’m connected to a mobile network. Everything that is needed to connect to the Internet literally anywhere in the world is right here within a 15′ by 15′ square of me. We have a satellite link, connected to a multiplexer which splits the signal into phone and data lines. The data lines go into a router, a switch, and ultimately to this computer that I’m using. The phone is standard PSTN. We can talk to anyone in the world, anywhere, at any time. It’s all very cool.
Just don’t stand in front of the satellite dish. Unless, of course, you want to feel all tingly inside and no longer have a need to produce children.
