I am home. Safe and sound. My family met me in the baggage claim area of the Tucson airport yesterday, and my kids received me like a velcro strip on a shag carpet. I mean that literally. It’s Sunday evening now, and I still haven’t been able to tear my daughter away from my leg.
Okay, seriously, it wasn’t quite like that, but you get the point. I received as great a “Welcome Home” reception as one can get in the baggage claim area of an airport. It was so nice to get the hugs from my wife and children. I do not recommend long trips without your family. The time away may seem nice at first, but it really does drastic things to your hearstrings after a while. I even nearly shed a tear on Thursday because of it, I think.
Now, I have to admit, the travel was such a radical departure from what I normally do in real life that it was almost like a vacation to me. Consider this; I got to ride offroad in a military Humvee, fly to a part of the country that I have never seen before (I’ve been to Virginia, but not to the Norfolk area, which is way cool and I highly recommend it. Especially Suffolk), went to the beach…twice, toured Washington DC for a bit, worked with some really nice and laid back people, and got to fall in love with a new part of our wonderful, beautiful country. What part of this doesn’t spell out vacation?
So now I have to deal with the hard part: going back to my office and trying to get back into my regular life. On top of that, I have this terrible jetlag that I haven’t had to deal with in over a decade. Back in 1993, I had a job that flew me all over the country. 15 states in eight months. I make that up not. I got used to the jetlag. It got to a point where I hardly even noticed it. But that was over ten years ago. This is the first trip I took to the Atlantic Coast in over a decade. So I’m a little out of practice with the jetlag stuff. All day today I’ve been dozing here and there. And right now, the bed seems like a great place to be. I think I will go visit it now.
Good night.

Jet lag? What’s that? I think that you must have to travel in order to experience that. lol I have only travelled by airplane 2 times in my life. And other than that, I have only travelled by car to the states that are directly connected to my state of Minnesota. I am so deprived! lol

Hey there, I was googling Virginia Beach train tracks pics and yours came up, I would like to use your photo (w/ some paint shop effects) for a demo cd cover. Hope you don’t mind or have your photos copywritten or whatever. It’s just a perfect pic for what I want, so let me know if you have any issues. This a complete amateur thing it’s being used for, but let me know if you don’t want me to use it. Thanks.
