I’ve been nominated for a blog award, but I find myself at odds with it. The award is called the RFS Blog awards. The RFS stands for Real F-ing Stupid. My blog has been nominated for Best Daddy Blog or something. Why am I at odds on this?

Because on the one hand, I’m honored that someone would nominate me for any kind of award. On the other, I am one of those prudish people that doesn’t like swearing. I find it unnecessary in most respects. I rarely use it in speaking. This doesn’t make me better than anyone, it’s just how I am.

I don’t necessarily find it offensive if it’s used sparingly. It’s real life. People swear. I’m okay with that. And in some instances, it’s exceptionally funny, which is exactly the point of this blog.

So here I am, wanting to accept this nomination but also wanting to be sensitive to my own philosophies and morals. My intention for this blog is to maintain it as a family-friendly site that is safe for anyone to come and visit. That being the case, I’m also aware that some of my postings/rants/musings/whatever may have offended some people. I said this blog was supposed to be funny. I never said it wasn’t going to be hypocritical.

With that, I have decided that I will accept the nomination with respect and gratitude. But the button I am posting for it has been modified from the original version to something (hopefully) a little less potentially offensive and more in line with my morals. I hope this doesn’t make the academy mad at me.
