Three Heads HNT

May 10th, 2006 · 19 Comments

So there I was, wandering around in the woods in Chesapeake, VA., enjoying the scenery and stuff. I was getting ready to take a picture of the foliage around me when I hear someone approaching. It actually sounds like a few people, you know? Talking to each other. Well, I figure they’re on a nature walk and will see that I’m about to take a photo and walk behind me. So I don’t worry about looking around. I just frame my shot and snap the photo. That’s when I see this.

Three Heads HNT

I was stunned. You know, it’s not every day you run into a three-headed man that looks remarkably similar to yourself. If it was an everyday thing, I seriously doubt I would have been as shocked as I was. Because when something becomes a common occurance, you stop being shocked by it, you know? But this wasn’t something very common, so I was very shocked indeed. I more or less just stood there for a bit. The same could be said for the three-headed man.

Well, after a moment, he…er…they…started to talk amongst themselves, debating on what should be done with me. The one closest to me (on the far right of the photo) was very polite. He was very apologetic for stepping into the photograph, and tried to get the others to turn the other direction. The middle one had a Brittish accent and wanted to invite me to tea. The one on the far left had a very obvious contempt for the middle guy, and they bickered quite a bit. He said that they should eat me. After all, “we are out hunting for our dinner,” he said.

While they argued, I bravely packed my things and ran away.

There’s a blue HNT graphic in my sidebar on the right. Click it to find out more about all this nonsense. Happy HNT, everyone!

Update: Let me just say, I’m very proud of those of you who picked up on the very subtle homages to Monty Python and the Holy Grail. Bravo to you! I have a couple of responses to those commenters:

  1. The three-headed monster that Sir Robin the Not-Quite-So-Brave-as-Sir Launcelot runs into in that movie is not a member of the Knights (or Kinniggots, as the case may be) Who Say Ni. But I think you probably already knew that.
  2. I was fortunate enough not to have annoying minstrels while on my photo shoot. Even if I did, I probably would have easily sacrificed them during the cold winter when there was no food around.
