I’d like to take a moment to address a serious topic, if I may. On September 11 of this year, we will mark the fifth “anniversary” of the terrorist attack on America. In an effort to help remember those victims of the attack, a fellow blogger by the name of D. C. Roe has decided to do his part. He has started a thing he is simply calling 2,996. For those who do not recall, that number represents the total number who perished during those attacks.

Mr. Roe’s point is that the media and America has put too much into remembering those who perpetrated the attacks. What he’d like to see now is an opportunity to remember those who died. He has put out a call to those of us in the blogosphere to pay tribute to one victim each. The point is that there will be 2,996 bloggers out there paying tribute to all of the victims one person at a time.

This blog will be participating.

On September 11, 2006, SchadeBLOG will be posting a tribute to Matthew David Yarnell. I have no idea who this person is, but I certainly hope to be able to find more information about him.

Roe has so far gathered 111 fellow bloggers to participate in this project. So I am now encouraging those of you who maintain blogs to follow the link below and read more on this very worthwhile endeavor. There is also a graphic in my sidebar that will direct you to the site, as well. Please consider participating. Maybe you won’t be able to write a tribute, but maybe there’s some other way you can contribute. At least consider it.
