Happy 4th of July!

July 4th, 2006 · 2 Comments

I’m sure everyone is putting something like this up today. Well, in the spirit of being different, I’m waiting until the end to put mine up. I wish I could say that this image was mine, but I didn’t get to take any photos this year. Mainly because it rained through the entire show and I didn’t have proper cover. But I did get some video, and I hope to post it to YouTube.com later.

My little town of just over 40,000 people tends to be somewhat backwards and late bloomers when it comes to getting what most everyone else in the world already. The only exception to this is when we built our Wal-Mart. Boy, we were on top of the heap when they were handing those out. But I will say this, we didn’t get a Home Depot until just a few years ago. But I am damn proud of my home town, and there ain’t nobody else in the entire state of Arizona who knows how to put on a fireworks show. You hear that Tucson and Phoenix? You guys got nothing on us Sierra Viwstans when it comes to fireworks displays. I’ve seen your so-called “shows”. You really could take a few lessons from us, down here. These guys got game!

Like I said, I hope to put up a bit of the video I shot just to show y’all what I’m talking about. For those who have seen it, you know what I’m saying. Tonight’s show was especially powerful because we’re also celebrating the city’s 50th birthday all year. So they put some extra effort into the show, and I tell you, it was so awesome it was even worth standing in the rain for an hour for it. I hope the video does it justice. Prolly won’t though.

Happy Fourth of July to everyone!

Not only that, you miss half of the show by not going to the ball fields. The ground displays are worth the crowd. Today we all got soaked, but it was worth it! Happy Birthday America!

I love the shows that Sierra Vista puts on every year. They are great! I am sorry to say that I missed the show completely this year. :( I was anti-rain this year. You know they say sugar melts in the rain… I wanted to be here today! LOL

I am glad that you got to watch it. Did you take the kids?
