Today was my mother-in-law's 50th birthday. To celebrate, we brought my wife's sister and her family all the way down (up, actually) here from Tempe, AZ and took everyone to Miller Canyon. This lead to a very unexpected and pleasant discovery.
Arizona still knows what to do with water when it gets it.
Lately, we've been getting a lot. I mean a LOT. We've had an unbelievable monsoon this year, and we are in such dire need of it. I'm hoping this is the beginning of the end of the drought we've been in. Miller Canyon was chalk full of green stuff, today. And it was amazing. We even had a running creek. Here's a few photos to show off what we can do over here. Given that I am somewhat known for photo manipulation, I should point out that none of these has in any way been retouched. Not even to bring out the color. What you see is exactly what my camera captured.
As an experiment, I am doing something slightly different with the photos. I'm providing low-resolution thumbnails. Click on the thumbs for the full-size image. They'll be worth it.

Beautiful! That is the nice thing about living in the high desert, we do get the green stuff when there is enough water! That picture of the flower is amazing. What color! Did you go to Ramsey Canyon, the hummingbird preserve. I bet that is really pretty right now, too. They have a trail and the wildlife are abundant there. You should check it out!
